Albert T. Van Huff TABC Licensing Attorney
Al Van Huff operates Ranger Licensing, where he has spent more than two decades guiding Texas hospitality businesses through the TABC permitting process. His clients run from single-location restaurants and neighborhood bars to hotels, resorts, country clubs, and nightclubs. He also serves as the designated officer on mixed beverage permits for a number of established Texas venues, including The Houstonian Hotel and Hotel ZaZa.
Al earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center in 2000, following a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Houston, which he completed Cum Laude in 1997. He went on to earn a Certification in Commercial Beverage Management from the Conrad N. Hilton College in 2003, and he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1990 to 1994.
He is admitted before the Supreme Court of Texas, the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Tax Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, all four United States District Courts in Texas, and the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. Alongside Ranger Licensing, Al is a partner at Monshaugen & Van Huff, P.C., where his work reaches past permitting into dram shop litigation, day-to-day compliance advice, and representing operators in administrative proceedings. He belongs to the Academy of Hospitality Industry Attorneys, the National Association of Alcoholic Beverage Licensing Attorneys, and Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals.
